Can I Get a UniCash refund?
Activating Your ID Card
Students are issued with a ID Card at enrolment time. The card is activated by registration at a Registration Kiosk.
At the Registration kiosk:
Existing/past students with an existing computer account will select the “ Existing Student” option and enter their username and password to register their ID Card and get their PIN number.
New Students will select the "New Student" option, which now involves activating their student account via the new user process, thereby registering their ID Card and acquiring their username and PIN number and setting a password.
Once your student ID card is activated, an email will be sent (to your Waikato email address) with a PIN for use with Waikato IT systems. If you are studying in Tauranga you will also be emailed a PIN for use on Bay of Plenty Polytechnic campuses.
The following locations have been setup on campus to facilitate the process:

Printing and Copying
Facilities have been provided to enable students to load money (UniCash) on their account to allow printing and copying. There is only one balance for the 2 services. You can not stipulate which service it is to be used for. Students will need to maintain a positive balance to access these services.
PLEASE NOTE: Once you have registered your ID Card you will need to wait 20 minutes before you can add money to your account.
Costs for the services are as follows
- Printing – 10c per page
- Copying – 10c per page

Checking Your UniCash Balance
You can check your UniCash balance via iWaikato, MyWeb or EdLinked or by double clicking on the UniCash application in the desktop tray (bottom left on the desktop). These systems display the current balance as well as the history of transactions.
After Hours Access to Labs/Buildings
Students need appropriate approval from their department and go to the security office (building BX) to enable access to the relevant building. A charge of $15 will apply for enabling this access.
Support Issues
Faulty, Damaged or Lost ID Cards
Students go to the Student Centre (Library). If a card needs to re-issued due to being faulty, there will be no charge. If the card has been damaged by the student, or lost, a cost of $10 will apply for new card
Forgotten ID Card PIN number
Contact the security office or re-register the card via a Student ID Card kiosk.

Can I Get a UniCash Refund?
No refunds are issued. Students are advised to place only small amounts on their card at a time. Any unused balance will be written off after 2 years.
